EBOOK/PDF Tanya author Rebecca Rogers Maher

O to a family It is clear that Tanya is trying to et her life back on track It s also very obvious that this is no walk in the park and the author does not hold back on the struggles that she s faced or is currently dealing with in her lifeMarlene Tanya was the weak point in the story for me too and for some of the same reasons Although the author does an excellent job of portraying Tanya s struggle with alcoholism it felt like it was because she does an excellent job of portraying people in deep trouble whether it s depression cancer or alcoholism She s Girl Trouble good atetting inside her characters travails and making the reader feel how difficult things are for that character But I couldn t The Trouble with Valentines get inside Tanya s head the way that I did with Henry and Christa and that may be partly because it s easy to sympathize with Christa s plight and I understood of Henry s struggle from the insideTanya does too much to punish herself long after everyone else has stopped even wanting to punish herMeka I found it easier toet in to the head of Jack Henry s brother He s just returned from a stint in the Peace Corps and is now trying to figure out what to do with his future He s done so much in his past but where does he fit in now He does not know but in Tanya he sees something that could spring open and bloomTheir scenes together were charged with emotion but I couldn t help but feel a little hollow as well It seemed they could only really connect in bed when what I wanted for them was to connect romantically as wellMarlene I ve known a few people who have served in the Peace Corps and it can be a very hard re entry Jack s temporary lack of direction made sense Admittedly some people probably don t ever figure out what happens next after an experience like his but Jack s not there yet He needs to find a new purpose in his life and part of that purpose turns out to be figuring Tanya outThere is an element of insta lust turning into insta love awfully damn fast I couldn t see why Jack fell for Tanya unless helping her keep stable was another purpose There were moments when this story felt like a tragedy plot bolted onto an erotic story I didn t feel the loveMeka Unfortunately I was not convinced that Tanya and Jack s happily for now was something that would stick Maybe I was supposed to feel that way Both of them had such tumultuous lives and it felt as though they were not jlo Journal given enough time to breach the maelstrom of emotion and issues that stood between them I felt as though Jack was capable of doing that than Tanya and toward the end while she d made some progress I simply was not convinced that she could meet Jack halfway I felt as though her progression was the weakest part of the book for meI found myself invested in Henry and Christa s progression than the main characters There were some moments when Iot teary eyed such as when Jack and Henry had a One Night...Twin consequences (The Monticello Baby Miracles good talk and Tanya sesture toward her sister but it was not enough I wanted to know about how Henry and Christa were doing what their struggles had been and how they d managed While this was talked about somewhat in the story I wanted This made me sad because I felt as though I should be invested in Jack and TanyaMarlene I loved seeing Henry and Christa again Their story in The Bridge was intensely beautiful and it is so sweet to see that their happy for now is etting a longer now I only call their story happy for now because it s unfortunate but obvious that Christa s cancer means that they are living on borrowed timeTanya and Jack s story seemed to be about the sex than the romance where Christa and Henry s story felt completely romantic Sad but very romantic Jack and Tanya don t seem as solid together He s not just moving than halfway but he s also found a purpose in his life Tanya although she makes positive progress at the end still has so much negative self talk that she needs to work through You do have to love yourself at least a bit in order to be able to really partner with another person Tanya s still beating herself upMeka Rebecca Rogers Maher s writing is sharp and finely honed Her voice is refreshingly honest when it comes to difficult issues and tangled emotions She never skims the surface or writes about an issue with anything less than blunt truth and that can be a tough pill to swallow as a reader Her writing is nuanced and she can keep me in the story so I wish the book would have worked better for me overallI ive Tanya a CMarlene The author does a fantastic job of letting readers into the hearts and lives of people who are facing intense problems She s The Routledge Handbook of Spanish in the Global City great at making you understand just how difficult a struggle her characters are facing without turning everything into a downbeat However to make a story work as a romance it helps to understand why the couple would fall for each other and Tanya wasn t there for meI alsoive Tanya a C Reviewed by Kim for Read Your Writes Book ReviewsSometimes it s just easier to be screwed up than allow yourself to try to be happy to try to be normal What is normal when your whole life has been anything butTanya is the daughter of a drug addict who overdosed and died She is the sister of a two time cancer survivor Tanya is a recovering alcoholic who uses meaningless sex with men as a way to punish herself for not being a better daughter and sisterJack is privileged from a wealthy yet distant family He has just spent the last two years in Guyana working for the Peace Corps He s the brother of a clinically depressed man who almost died in an explosion Jack is lost in a world he no longer understands or feels he fits intoTanya is told in first person through the eyes of both Tanya and Jack This is a mesmerizing story of two siblings who feel The Holy Grail guilty for the way they treated their siblings in the past They are both lost souls What is so wonderful about this story is that these two haveone as low as they can British Jihadism go but are trying to better themselves Unfortunately they don t see how far they have come or the way those who love them see themTanya is a story aboutoing to the dark side and fighting your way back into the light It s about realizing that what may be normal for other people isn t normal for you and it s okay It s about realizing that we all make mistakes and that we have to own them It s about realizing that our past is our past and it doesn t define who we are Tanya is about realizing who you are and discovering the person you want to beSource Author VERY Virgin Widow good I really loved the writing too so I ll b one clicking all of the author s books Dark andritty just how I like my books except the speech at the end Blah I can never readwatch those I would love to read a full length novel from Maher Seemed like a long epilogue than its own story Last year I read The Bridge by Rebecca Rogers Maher a very powerful novella. Xperience Tanya joins her sister’s bridal party at an upscale mountain lodge There she meets the room’s family for the first time including his brother Jack just home from the Peace Corps and reeling from his night with the bold be.

About two people who meet when they are on a bridge ready to commit suicide As you can probably uess these two end up leaving this bridge and falling in love In those short pages Maher really excelled at iving us a very dark emotional love storyTanya takes place during the wedding of Henry and Christa from The Bridge Tanya is Christa s sister a recovering alcoholic who comes into town late one night for the weeding weekend celebrations and heads straight to the bar to stare at the liuor Although she only drinks seltzer water she likes to punish herself with feeling uilty Growing up with a drug dependent mother Tanya was raised by her sister and always feels like she is the selfish one When their mother became sick with addiction Tanya turned to the bottle When she Night And Day gets the phone call that their mother died of an overdose Tanya turns to the bottle It isn t until Christa is diagnosed with breast cancer that Tanya decided toet help But even two years later she feels like she isn t worthy to live a life that will Tennessee Takedown / Ravens Hollow give her happiness So she turns to anonymous sex When he sat down across from me all six feet of him I figured shit it s my lucky day Aood looking The Cowboy Takes a Bride (The Bridal Bid guy when I would have taken anything with a pulse I m not choosy when Iet like that Sometimes the dirtier they are the better It s the filth of it I m after the vague sense of self punishment of eating something bad for me I like when they re mean or sexist or stupid I like taking what I want from these men and then shoving them out the doorBut this Michaels Discovery (The Devaneys guy His restlessness is whatot to me the fact that he couldn t keep still I wanted to push him down onto a bed and force him to stop moving To lie there and be Shotgun Wedding (Silhouette Yours Truly, good and take itAnd he did He did thatJack is the hero s brother from The Bridge Jack has just returned from the Peace Corps in Guyana and has no idea what to do with his life Growing up extremely privileged then working in a very poor area that past two years and now thrust back into New York City Jack feels lost When Tanya makes eyes at him from across the bar and propositions him his legs are following her before he can even think straightJack may come across as of the one in control of his life and his self but Tanya kind of forces this side of Jack to the front that shocks even him But he is happy for it I flip her over to her back I feel her breath on my neckasping She bites me and I fall against her and then move faster Give it to me I Life Changing Smiles grab the back of her knees and pushoing deeper Give it I have no idea where these words come from They re like nothing I ve ever heard myself say They rise up from some deep underground place in me that I m not even sure I want to knowThis book has some really ood intense love scenes Just sayin I love this author s voice An erotic novella that uses sex to show the vulnerabilities these two are facing They both feel lost in life and I think they both feel like they don t deserve to be happy They are so happy for their siblings who have one through so much and have found such love but they don t know how to embrace this feeling They speak through their physical actions in the bedroom and then we have a very nice romantic endingWhat I think this author excels at in a short setting is Only a Whisper giving us very broken characters who are not magically healed because they fall in love Tanya will always struggle with being an alcoholic It will take Jack time to find his purpose in life Christa and Henry from The Bridge are still dealing with battling depression These characters have heavy issuesand they also fall in loveVery much looking forward to another book I think it s fairly easy toive a character a disorderillness to explain their actions and create drama whether it be depression substance abuse PTSD etc I think it s much harder to pay the subject matter the proper respect and weave a believable romance into the mix This is a pet peeve of mine and Rebecca Rogers Maher never lets me downIn Tanya Rogers Maher crafts a Copper Lake Secrets gorgeous unflinching story of recoveryuilt and redemption that never takes the easy way out but also never drowns in a sea unnecessary angst I m always floored when I pick up her books expecting a depressing tale but instead find realistic flawed yet inspiring characters and a story that leaves me filled with joy and hope I feel like I learn things reading her books How to live life fully how to appreciate the things and people I have in my lifeI can t say about Tanya that isn t already in the summary other than read it Read everything she writes You won t be disappointed My friend Andrea wrote a detailed review if you would like to check it outWe first hear about both Tanya and Jack as the siblings of the troubled Christa and Henry in The Bridge While you don t need to have read that book first it will increase your enjoyment of Tanya immensely leave you weeping with joy at the end It s beautiful to see how Tanya and Jack who aren t portrayed in the most flattering light in The Bridge come full circle both as a couple and as a family unit There is also a cameo with a character from Fault Lines Again it s not necessary to have read it first but it s nice to catch up and revisit old favorites You can read my review of The Bridge here It was on my Top Reads list for 2013Rebecca Rogers Maher has a lot of Brooklyn's Song great posts on her blog this week as part of the TANYA Blog Tour Right Here at Home about realistic romance explicit sex scenes recovery happy endings and If you re not sure about picking up this book yet I encourage you to check it outReview originally posted on For What It s Worth on 5114 Maher has a knack for writing highly damaged characters and yet somehow making me believe in their happy ending She should probably see about bottling this talent she d be a millionaire within minutesTanya is a continuation of the author s earlier novella The Bridge It does stand alone fairly well but the past romantic couple is directly tied to this story featuring the past heroine s sister and the past hero s brother For that reason I felt like they sometimes overshadowed this new romance And while I think Maher does an excellent job writing in a shorter format with this particular story I found myself just flat out wanting of Tanya and Jack Still it s a veryood story and Maher is easily one of my favorite writers currently working today She writes challenging different stories that you might not necessarily be in love with but that you can t help appreciate all the same On my personal rating scale I ave this story a B 45 stars Great read short and sweet I somehow managed not to realize until I started it that it connected to Hurricane Lily The Bridge and Fault Lines It was fun to revisit all those couples Not a breezy easy light hearted read A bit dark twisted and angsty But its original and interesting. Autiful woman he thought he’d never see againBoth at a crossroads in their lives Tanya and Jack collide for one explosive weekend Will they choose the safety of past regrets or will they be brave enough to embrace the present together.

I should have been diligent about checking out RRM after having so many feelings about The Bridge back when I read it literally years ago but while I was mooning through my Kindle looking restlessly for something to read on lockdown I discovered I d also purchased TanyaThis is a semi follow up The Bridge and I would recommend reading The Bridge first because otherwise seeing Henry and Christa preparing for a wedding won t melt you to oo uite so effectively packing a similar degree of intensity into a similar slight page countTanya is about well Tanya Christa s alcoholic sister who abandoned her midway through her first round of chemo and Henry s brother Jack recently turned from doing something or other with the Peace Corps I will say it slightly weirded me out that this was a romance between the siblings of each of the leads in the previous book like I can t imagine anything worse than one my sibling s dating my one of partner s siblings But it wasn t exactly intentional on the part of the any of the character s Tanya and Jack have an anonymous one night stand on the way to the wedding and WHOOPS so I uess weird shit like that just happens sometimesAnyway Tanya is a few years down the road to recover and has recently supported through Christa another round of chemo For people who The Bridge which ended with Christa and Henry essentially committing not to die and be together despite the fact he s still suicidally depressed and her breast cancer has just come back CHRISTA IS OKAY CHRISTA IS OKAY I can t believe how much joy I felt over that even though I sort of believed it anyway at the end The Bridge Anyway Tanya is still a self loathing wreck because she s a substance abuser because both see and Christa have an intensely complicated relationship with their damaged now deceased mother and because she ran out on Christa the first time round Part of her coping strategy is selfish rough very satisfying sex with men she doesn t have to care aboutAlthough naturally this plan rather oes out the window when she meets last night s selfish rough very satisfying sex partner again at the wedding I feel the book packs a lot in forgiveness self forgiveness redemption hope choice despite the length but much like The Bridge it has a faintly ephemeral uality These are moments in people s lives It s not a full story It s nothing like a full a story But it s enough to let you care for them and hope for them and believe in a better future for all of them I really do love that and it s such a uniue and powerful talent this capacity RRM has to tell you everything you need in a collection of careful scenes and delicate apsAlso what happened to her Why isn t she writing any She s so ridiculously brilliantI adored Tanya she s a messy complicated heroine who has done some ugly things and fears her own ugliness There s also an edge of femdom to her sexual interactions with Jack which was unexpected and really rather delightful I didn t uite warm to Jack like I did to Tanya although it s interesting to see how the same set of circumstances shaped both him and Henry I suppose in the same way the same set of circumstances shaped Christa and Tanya But whereas both Christa and Henry felt fully realised in The Bridge Jack seemed to exist to be the sort of man Tanya might needWhich y know That s cool Tanya does indeed deserve a ood man who Blackmailed Into the Italians Bed gets her I know you have a story you re telling yourself about this weekend Tanya That you screwed it up that you screw everything up But what if it s a different story What if it s just two people who met under strange circumstances but who like each other She shakes her head automatically I told you I m not the kind of woman who What is it that you think I want exactly Someone to look pretty and clean my socks It s the twenty first century You don t have to be nice You can be smart and funny and sexy as hell and believe me that will be than enough Indeed This joint review was originally published at The Book PushersMeka I discovered Rebecca Rogers Maher s writings when I reviewed The Bridge Afteriving it high praise and feeling as though the book had trounced all over my emotions I could hardly wait to Girls Night Out get my hands on Tanya I went in to this story with very high expectations Perhaps that was unfair of me but I can t always help the way that I feel I wanted this story to wow me to emotionally lay me open the way that The Bridge did In some respects it succeeded but somewhere it fell flat for meMarlene I also found Rebecca Rogers Maher through reviewing The Bridge In fact in the promo copy they used toet us to pick the book the review they are uoting is mine Which is weird but awesome The Bridge was heart rending and Bound To Ransom (Bound Series Book 2) gut wrenching and kept my emotions set on puree long after I finished it I was hoping for a similar kind of book hangover after reading Tanya but instead I ended with of a meh reactionMeka The last line of the book dedication set the tone You see I am firmly entrenched in camp Nice Girl and when the heroine isn t a nice person it bugs me I don t expect them to be perfect paragons of virtue but I do have to believe that there is something redeemable about them I don t even mind a snit or being snippy these are human emotions and we all have them I recognize it s not fair but I doubt I m changing in that either I didn t realize that Tanya and Jack were the siblings of Christa and Henry respectively This made it eually difficult for me to connect to Tanya because she is presented as an alcoholic in the previous book She couldn t help her sister when she needed it the most and so there s all these preconceived ideas that I had concerning the kind of person that she was and it bothered me a lotMarlene Tanya s introduction in The Bridge made her out to be an unrecovering and unrecoverable alcoholic She thinks of herself as a terrible person and she acts like one She hasn t healed or forgiven herself and acts like dirt and expects to be treated like dirt It s hard to sympathize with a character who starts out hating herself and stays that way That she is turning her life around is overwhelmed by her constant assertion that she kind of isn tMeka The book picks up about six months where The Bridge ends Henry and Christa areetting married and it s two days before the wedding Tanya uses men for sex in order to cope with her own demons and that is how she meets Jack She doesn t realize that he is Henry s brother at first and they have a hookup in the hotel The next day she realizes that it s Jack and the wind is knocked out of her sailsI really wanted to connect with Tanya I truly did I think that it is easier for me to connect with depression as that is something I deal with and understand as a struggle I have a lot of baggage involving the destructiveness of alcoholism and what that can Tanya a recovering alcoholic meets Jack at a roadside stop on the way to her sister’s wedding Hoping to drown her sorrows in the company of a stranger she brings him back to her motel room The next day shaken by the intensity of the
